The pain management service at UT Southwestern Medical Center offers expert, compassionate care for patients experiencing abdominal pain or pelvic pain. Our program provides patients with an accurate diagnosis and effective treatments for abdominal pain associated with inflamed nerves, interstitial cystitis, pancreatitis, post-surgery scar pain and other conditions. Additionally, our specialists provide advanced treatments for patients with pelvic pain associated with endometriosis and gynecological conditions, prostatitis, testicular and urologic disorders, ligament injuries, and other disorders.
UT Southwestern is one of the few pain management centers in Texas with on-site pain specialists, behavioral medicine specialists and physical therapists. Our program uses therapies derived from the latest scientific advances in pain management, and our specialists utilize the least-invasive procedures available to diagnose, locate and treat patients’ abdominal and pelvic pain.
After a comprehensive evaluation, a UT Southwestern abdominal and pelvic pain specialist thoroughly explains the patient’s diagnosis and treatment options. In addition, our specialists advise patients about the actions they can take to reduce pain, including the lifestyle changes that can help improve their condition and maintain long-term health.
Depending on the patient’s specific condition, our specialists may prescribe muscle relaxants, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-inflammatory cortisone injections, physical therapy or minimally invasive therapeutic procedures.
UT Southwestern’s comprehensive medical resources enable patients to have an initial consultation, testing, follow-up visits and any needed medical procedures all in one location.
