UT Southwestern Medical Center physicians are experts in the diagnosis and surgical management of arthritis and osteonecrosis. Early diagnosis and arthritis treatment is critical and greatly increases the effectiveness of treatment for these conditions, which is why it’s so important to consult the best physicians available.
UT Southwestern orthopaedic surgeons work with a team of specialists to accurately diagnose, treat and rehabilitate patients suffering from musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Collectively, they are able to provide each patient with a comprehensive treatment plan that may or may not include surgical intervention.
The medical center routinely cares for patients with a variety of bone and joint conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, juvenile arthritis, lupus and fibromyalgia.
Our physicians help patients recover their mobility and attain high levels of function and independence. Our goal is to provide the effective arthritis treatment and education patients need to achieve an improved quality of life and greater sense of well-being.
When surgery is required, patients can be confident that UT Southwestern’s orthopaedic surgeons are experienced in procedures proven to be effective in the treatment of arthritis and osteonecrosis. In addition to joint replacement surgery, such as hip, knee or shoulder replacement, our surgeons perform other advanced surgical arthritis treatments including arthrodesis, arthroplasty, osteotomy, resection, revision joint surgery and synovectomy.
Surgical treatments for osteonecrosis include bone grafting, core decompression, femoral head resurfacing, femoral head replacement, osteotomy (cutting the bone), total hip replacement and metal-on-metal resurfacing.
Patients with autoimmune, inflammatory disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, can also be treated by our rheumatology service.
