UT Southwestern Medical Center is a recognized leader in the area of orthognathic and reconstructive jaw surgery. Our expert surgeons offer the most advanced surgical procedures in a world-class medical and research facility.

Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) is needed when jaws do not meet correctly and/or teeth do not seem to fit with the jaws. A comprehensive evaluation by a dentist, orthodontist and oral surgeon will determine which patients would benefit from this sophisticated procedure.

In addition to orthognathic surgery, UT Southwestern offers a range of maxillofacial surgical procedures, including treatment for:

  • Cleft lip and palate
  • Soft tissue injuries of the maxillofacial region
  • Bone injuries of the maxillofacial region
  • Injuries to the teeth and surrounding dental structures

Whether patients’ face and jaw conditions were present at birth or acquired over the course of a lifetime due to disease, heredity or injury, our capable surgeons are able to repair and realign the bones and tissues of the face.

Our team of specialists uses advanced imaging technology to diagnose injuries and conditions of the jaw and then works closely with patients to create a comprehensive treatment plan.

At UT Southwestern, our expert and compassionate care makes an important difference in our patients’ treatment and changes their outlook on the future. The medical center’s physicians show patients how they can achieve a renewed state of health they may have not thought possible.
