Gastroduodenal Diseases :: About Our Program

About Our Program | Conditions and Illnesses | Our Physicians | Patient Education Materials | Support Groups and Resources

UT Southwestern Medical Center treats patients for a wide array of digestive disorders, including the following:

  • Gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining)
  • Gastroparesis (poor contraction of the stomach muscles)
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Other disorders involving the stomach
  • Duodenal ulcers
  • Celiac Disease
  • Disorders involving the middle intestine (duodenum, jejunum and ileum)

Our gastroenterologists evaluate patients who have experienced symptoms such as abdominal pain, acid reflux/heartburn or other problems with digestion. We also have experience in multiple forms of gastrointestinal bleeding from many sites, including the upper digestive system.

Our expert faculty carefully evaluate each patient’s medical history, current health and test results to diagnose the cause of the gastroduodenal illness and design the right treatment plan. UT Southwestern’s comprehensive medical resources allow patients to have an initial consultation, testing, follow-up visits and any needed medical procedures all in one location.

After a complete examination, a UT Southwestern specialist may recommend specific additional tests such as an endoscopy, enteroscopy or capsule endoscopy.  These procedures allow our physicians to use a tiny camera to evaluate the stomach and upper intestine.
